Rhea L. Williams

Rhea L. Williams, 92, of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, July 24, 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living.

Due to inclement weather, the service will take place at 11 a.m., Saturday, July 29th at Munden Funeral Home, with Rev. Darrell Williams officiating and Deborah Lockey providing music.  The family will receive friends one hour prior at Munden Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest privately at Bayview Cemetery.

Mrs. Williams was born on February 22, 1931, in Cressona, Pennsylvania, to the late August and Edith Onavage. She was the middle child of 11 children, 5 above her and 5 below.

Her husband, the late Robert A. Williams, was from Morehead City. They were blessed with 60 years together before his passing in 2012. Following his retirement from the military they moved to Morehead City where they attended First Baptist Church.

Mrs. Williams was a private woman, who was known to be frugal and always careful with her finances and resources. Her husband often said that he made the money in the family and Rhea saved it.

Mrs. Williams is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Charles T. Kelly and wife Sandra of Morehead City; nephew, Robert Kelly and wife Mellonie of Tarboro; two nieces, Ruth Curtis and husband Jim of Charlotte and Charlotte Williams of Tarboro; two cousins, Maureen Eggers of Newport and Karen Tollmann of New Bern.

In 2017, Mrs. Williams moved to Brookdale Senior Living. The family would like to thank Brookdale and Gentiva Hospice for their exceptional care and support.
