Rev. Eugene Harding Richardson, 81, of Marshallberg, received his glorified body on Saturday, February 4, 2012.
Funeral will be 3:30 Monday at Lighthouse Chapel on Harkers Island, officiated by Rev. Ricky Rose, Rev. Robert Daniel and Rev. Rick Anderson. The family will receive friends following the service at the church. Another funeral service will be held 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at Liberty Wesleyan Church in Sheffield, NC, with visitation beginning at 1:00p.m. Interment will follow in the Liberty Wesleyan Church.
Born May 28, 1930 in Davie County, he was the son of the late Bascom Roosevelt and Cora Tutterow Richardson. He received his second birth in February of 1952. He had served as pastor of churches throughout the piedmont and coastal regions of North Carolina and was the president of the Bible Methodist Fellowship.
Reverend Eugene Richardson spent a lifetime serving the Lord pastoring numerous churches within N.C. and TN, serving as the chairman of the Tennessee Bible Methodist Fellowship , and holding evangelistic services. He was a devoted family man who enjoyed gardening and carpentry in his spare time. Known as a hard worker, you could always find him busy, either studying, working on his home, or gardening. He will be greatly missed by his family, church friends, and neighbors.
Survivors include his wife of 16 years, Sidney Richardson, of the home; a son Gary Richardson and wife, Evelyn, of Greensboro; five daughters, Rev. and Mrs. Robert (Linda) Daniel, of Rockwood, TN, Joann Couch, of Mocksville, Rev. and Mrs. Rick (Cindy) Anderson, of Patrick Springs, VA, Mr. and Mrs. Thurman (Debra) Foy, of Denton, and Mr. and Mrs. Michael (Sharon) Fletcher, of Mocksville; three step-children, Paula Gillikin of Otway, David Ryan Gillikin of Bettie, and Maria Oneal of Otway; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; and a brother, Johnny Richardson and wife, Mary, of Harmony.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Corrine Baggarly Richardson, two brothers, Robert and Wade Richardson, and two infant sisters.
