Reuben Ray Lilly, Sr.
April 3, 1939 — January 5, 2013
Reuben R. Lilly, Sr. Passed peaceful into the arms of our Lord in Heaven Saturday morning. He was a retired Longshoreman from the NC State Port, and a commercial fisherman. His passion in life was serving his Lord through his membership at Reece's Chapel Baptist Church. His vivacious and loving spirit will be missed by his family and community.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2:00 pm at Reece's Chapel and with the Rev. James Chadwick officiating. Burial will following in the Lilly family Cemetery.
Reuben was preceded in death by his wife Frances Bell Lilly, a son Reuben R. Lilly, Jr. , His parents Cryus and Dollie Lilly, and thee brothers CT Lilly, Jr., Eugene Lilly, and Levy Lilly, Sr. and one sister Violet Lilly Fleming.
He is survived by two daughters Thelma Jones and Husband Chris of Mill Creek, NC, and Betty Ann Lilly and her significant Roy Gittings of Morehead City, NC, five grandchildren Dameon Ouert, Cade Jones, Jasa Jones, Jake Lilly, London Lilly, Three great grandchildren Michelle Jones, Sean Ouert, Dominic Ouert: three sisters Carrie Graham Wallace and husband Clifton of New Bern, Arminta Lilly Balance of Mill Creek, and Margaret Lilly Dixon of Mill Creek: and a brother Samuel B. Lilly and wife Suzanne of Fayetteville.
Family will receive friends at Reece's Chapel Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
