Raymond "Ray" William Norris

Raymond “Ray” William Norris, 79, of Indian Beach, passed away Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Carteret Health Care in Morehead City surrounded by family.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Salter Path United Methodist Church with Rev. David Bratton officiating.

He honorably served in the US Navy aboard the USS Intrepid for a total of six years. He worked for AT& T for 29 years until retiring in 1989, he also worked for several other jobs including Wal-Mart in Morehead City. He volunteered at the North Carolina Aquarium in Pine Knoll Shores. He was an active church member at Salter Path United Methodist Church acting as treasurer, usher, and maintenance. He was a beloved father and grandfather.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barb of the home; daughter, Kym Norris of Newport;   son, Scott Norris and wife Lou of Greenville; grandchildren, Justin Thompson and wife Marcia, JohnPaul Thompson, Taylor Norris, and Ashley Norris; sister, Marjorie Berg; also many nieces, nephews and one great-nephew.

Ray is proceeded in death by a child who was lost before birth; his parents, William Yelton and Nell Gertrude Deyounge Norris; brother-in-law, David Berg; sister-in-law, Marilyn Ritger and husband Russell.

The family will receive friends 10:00 am – 12:00 pm Saturday, June 25, 2016 at Salter Path United Methodist Church.
