Raymond Godwin, Jr.

Raymond Arthur Godwin, Jr. , 68, of Cape Carteret, died Wednesday September 23, 2009 at 01:50 am at Carteret General Hospital.

Mr. Godwin was a 1961 graduate of Midway High School, was a Marine Corps veteran, was a member of Ducks Unlimited, a lifetime member of the NRA, and a lifelong Sportsman. He was a self-employed agricultural pilot and later retired with the NC Forestry Service in Whiteville, NC as a pilot.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry Horrell officiating. A graveside service will be held 2:00 pm on Saturday at the Godwin Family Cemetery in Dunn with Rev. Larry Horrell and Rev. Johnny Peterson officiating. Visitation will follow at Mt. Carmel PFWB Church.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Rogers Godwin; two sons, Raymond Arthur Godwin, III and wife Lisa and James "Jim" Alton Godwin all of Dunn; three grandchildren, Morgan Rae Godwin, James "J.T." Godwin, and Caleb Godwin all of Dunn; brother, Connie R. Godwin and wife Dianne of Dunn; two sisters, Yvonne Godwin Calhoun and husband John of Fayetteville, and Portia Godwin Knowles of Apex; and his lap companion, Little Bob.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Raymond and Mollie Godwin, Sr. .

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
