Raymond Brazie

Raymond “Ray” William Brazie, 81, of Harkers Island, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 21, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, October 27, 2016, at the Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness church with Reverend Paul Loftin officiating. Interment will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, October 28, 2016, at Vergie Mae cemetery.

Ray was very gifted with his artistic abilities and it showed throughout all his paintings. He loved being on the water, clamming and swimming, and was known for having a wonderful sense of humor, playing jokes, and making people laugh. He was always a hard worker and always looked out for his family. He was admired and looked up to by his family, friends, and many others.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Verena Brazie; daughters, Tammy Wright of Otway, NC, and Brooke Brazie of Harkers Island, NC; sons, Mitchell Brazie of Beaufort, NC, and Phillip Brazie of Harkers Island, NC; sisters, Arlene Losaw of Wallace, NC, and Phyllis Bartlett of Pittsville, MA; grandchildren, Jason Brazie, Tyler Brazie, Ricky Guthrie, Jr., Adam Guthrie, Matthew Guthrie, and Laken Brazie; 14 great- grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Lillian Brazie; son, Ryan Brazie; and brothers, James and Jack Brazie.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at the church.
