Ray "Gene" Eugene Morris

Ray “Gene” Eugene Morris, 78, of New Bern, passed away Monday, November 29, 2021, at Riverpoint Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Ray was born in Moore Haven, Florida, on March 20, 1943, to the late Clarence and Courtney Morris. Working as a Tire Installer, he was employed at various shops in Carteret County. He loved going to the Newport Flee Mall, browsing through the various stalls to see what treasures he could find. Using his craft skills, he was a great belt maker. Carving decoys was another hobby he excelled at. Ray’s dogs were true companions, he was happy for their company and always took great care of them.

He is survived by his daughters, Linda Morris of Morganton, NC and Cindy Howell (Glenwood Riggs) of Newport, NC; sister, Pearl Hines of Moore Haven, FL; grandchildren, Chris Howell and Jeff Howell, both of Abbeyville, AL, and Josh Morris and Chyanne Morris, both of Morganton, NC; and great grandchild, Cheley Howell, Mallie Morris, Leah Morris, and Regan Morris.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his Eula Mae Morris.
