Rachel Elaine Rhodes Willis

Rachel Elaine Rhodes Willis, 83, of Broad Creek, passed away Monday, December 31, 2018, peacefully at her home.

Her funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Dr. Robert Langley. Interment will follow at Broad Creek Cemetery.

Rachel loved the Lord and her church family at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing and praising God. Rachel always had a loving smile; her warmth and kindness made her the best Mom in the world. She enjoyed life and took great care and pride in being a loving Nana and Grand-Nana.

She is survived by her daughters, Wendy Dale Willis of Wilmington and Lisa Willis Baker and husband Gilbert of Newport; brother, Wallace Rhodes of Morehead City; grandchildren, Tia Dale Edgar and husband Tom, James Nicholas Eady and wife Rebecca, Kenzie Brogden Taylor and husband Ryan, Katherine “Denise” Godwin and husband David, Gilbert Ray Baker, Jr. and wife Shawnna; and great-grandchildren, Hayden Allen Edgar, Bryce Thomas Edgar, Teylor Lee Godwin, Brian Matthew Godwin, Jared Matthew Baker.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wardell and Rachel Rhodes; sisters, Johnnie Hart Crawford, Catherine “Tiny” Stilley and Polly Yates; and brother, Hugh Rhodes.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, January 3, 2019, at Soundview Original Free Will Baptist Church.
