Phyllis “Gail” Payne Bost, 82, of Harkers Island, passed away Monday, February 11, 2019, at Crystal Coast Hospice House.
Her memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 17, 2019, at Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church in Mill Creek, officiated by Rev. Bill Hooper.
Gail was born in Kannapolis, NC, on April 11, 1936 to Zeb and Lillian Payne, along with ten other brothers and sisters. Through her lifetime, Gail worked in the Johnston County School System, the Carteret County Public Library and was a CNA to Alzheimer’s patients. In her spare time, Gail crafted the most beautiful roses made from silk ribbon and was a poet who expressed her joy for God through the written word. Gail was a Christian woman with the kindest soul. She was never quick to judge and was always a safe haven for those around her. Gail, a loving mother, grandmother and friend was called home to rest from her labours to be with Jesus.
She is survived by her daughters, Kim McGee of Harkers Island and Kelly Wagner of Michigan; sister, Betty Sue Cline of Concord; daughter-in-law, Dejohna Bost; grandchildren, Brandon Guthrie and wife Gena, Sarah Rivenbark and husband Joey, Katherine Epstein and husband Mark, Ben Wagner, Will Bost and Macon Russell; great-grandchildren, Memphis Rivenbark, Brady Epstein, Jake Epstein, and Quinn Epstein.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Bost; son, William “Billy” Harold Bost, Jr.; parents, Zeb Wright Payne and Lillian Pearl Carpenter Payne; sisters, Becky Hill, Rachel VanPelt, Ruby Lee Payne, Alene Gaston, Jeanette Payne; and brothers, Fred Payne, Ernest Payne, Yates Payne and Troy Payne.
