Phyllis Dawn Gillikin

Phyllis Dawn Gillikin, 80, of 695 Harkers Island Road, Beaufort, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, April 21, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.

Phyllis was born on August 20, 1942, in Carteret County, North Carolina, to the late Perry J. Goodwin and Addie S. Goodwin. Working in her yard was one of her favorite pastimes, especially her flower beds which she took great care of and was sure that they always looked beautiful. Her favorite meal was seafood which was perfect for coastal living. Phyllis will be remembered as a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

She is survived by her daughter, Theresa Taylor and husband Anthony of Sea Level; brothers, Charles F. Goodwin and wife Carolene of Newport and John F. Goodwin of Kinston; grandchildren, Melissa D. Gillikin, Amanda Styron, Richard C. Styron, Charles L. Styron, Curtis Gillikin, Shelby Gillikin Batten, and Jeffery Gillikin; great-grandchildren, Christopher A. Styron, Jonathan C. Garner, Chassity Styron, Lilliana Styron, Emily Davis, Richard “Hoss” Styron Jr., Willow A. Styron, Carter Styron, Sabrina Styron, Levi Styron, Hannah Batten, Hunter Gillikin, Haley Gillikin, Jamison Gillikin, Elyhannah Gillikin, Savannah Gillikin, and Ethan Gillikin; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her children, Ivan Gillikin Jr. and Cynthia D. Gillikin; siblings, Perry Goodwin Jr., Curtis Goodwin, LiLia D. Lawrence, and Loretta A. Daniels; grandson, Mark Gillikin; and great-grandson, Noah L. Styron.
