Phyllis Mae Garner Dusenbery, 92, of Orrum, NC passed away Thursday, January 14, 2016 at SouthEastern Regional Medical Center.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at Cape Carteret Presbyterian Church with Pastor Ben Burrows officiating. Entombment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Phyllis was born and raised in Hayward, CA. Honorably served in the US Navy during WWII and while stationed in Fort Sampson, NY, she met her future husband of 50 years. She was an active member of the Rebecka Lodge and an avid volunteer for Fort Macon State Park, and the Mayor’s Council for the People with Disabilities, also the Hem of his Garment.
She is survived by her three daughter, Carol Van Antwerpen and husband Alan of Clifton Park, NY, Sarah Jane Collins and husband Michael of West Creek, NJ and Janet A. Bieda and partner Pat of Orrum, NC; one son Jan A. Dusenbery and wife Diane of Waretown, NJ; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Joshua, Jahn, David, and Heidi; six great grandchildren, Jonathan, Gabe, Sarah, Paulie, J.J. and Liv.
She was preceded in death by her husband, C. Lewis Dusenbery; parents, Walter and Ethel Mae Cull Garner; one son, Craig L. Dusenbery;
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Church.
