Phillip "Phil" Yeomans, 74, of Harkers Island, died on Saturday, July 26, 2014 at Harborview Health Care Center.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday at Vergie Mae Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Going officiating.
Phil was born in Beaufort on January 6, 1940 to the late Walter Moore Yeomans, Jr. and Emma Lee Yeomans. He was the second child of three children.
At a young age after graduation from high school, Phil joined the U.S. Coast Guard and was stationed at Fort Macon on the Shalloa, then transfered to Boston, MA and was on the Ice Breaker. After leaving the Coast Guard in his later years he became employed with Maritram Tug Company where he worked until he retired.
He is survived by his wife, Iris Yeaomans; and two sons, Luther Terry Yeomans and wife Vickie and Phillip Rodney Yeomans. He is also survived by one brother, Martin Bryan Yeomans and wife Libby; a niece, Beth and husband Bull; and a nephew, Martin; uncle, Gary Yeomans; step-son, Eric Pake; also many cousins, and his dog that he loved dearly, Bow.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Perry Lou Willis, brother, Phillip Terry Yeomans who Phil was named after.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
