Phillip Ray Morris, 52, of Cedar Point, North Carolina, passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, at ECU Health Medical Center.
A memorial service to honor Phillip’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, June 23rd at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Darlene Morris. The family will receive friends following the service.
Born on January 4, 1972, in Wilmington, NC, Phillip was the beloved son of Gordon and Darlene Morris. His passion for learning and incredible curiosity led him to pursue higher education, earning a Master's Degree in Micro-Biology from East Carolina University. For two decades, Phillip imparted his knowledge and enthusiasm for learning as an Instructor at Craven and Pitt Community College and he was the Chair of the Science Department and Instructor of Anatomy and Physiology at Carteret Community College. He also headed the development of the Veterans Center at CCC.
Phillip's honorable service in the United States Navy aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower showcased his dedication and valor during both the Gulf War and the Haitian Conflict. His exceptional commitment was recognized with numerous medals and awards for his selfless contributions.
Away from his professional duties, Phillip’s happy place was at the beach where he enjoyed fun in the sun. An avid traveler, Phillip was always ready to discover new places, meet new friends, and appreciate the beauty around him.
Phillip will forever be treasured as a devoted husband for 18 years to his beloved wife Angela. As a loving father, he found immense joy in spending time with his children. He especially enjoyed his time with his daughter Ava, playing softball together. He was also proud of his son Tony, for his professional endeavors and he always enjoyed talking about sports with him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Angela Morris; daughter, Ava Morris of Cedar Point, NC; son, Tony Puglisi of Raleigh, NC; mother, Darlene Morris of Beaufort, NC; sisters, Eve Gregory (Charles) of Suffolk, VA, Sara Jones (Carl) of Newport, NC, and Melissa Meyer (Thomas) of Cincinnati, OH; and his furry companion who was always by his side, his dog, Dugg.
Phillip was preceded in death by his father, Gordon Morris.
