Phillip Allen Morris, 77, of Atlantic, NC passed away Saturday, February 18, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.  Phillip was born in Morehead City, NC and raised in Atlantic, NC. He graduated from Atlantic High School, then went off to college.  From there he went to work in the apprentice school at MCAS Cherry Point. He worked as an Integrated Systems Mechanic for eleven years. The next ten years he followed in his father's footsteps as a managing partner of Brantley Morris Oil Company. He was a commercial fisherman for two years before he became support supervisor/logistic/field buyer for Atlantic Electronic Warfare Range. He did contract work for several companies throughout the next twenty-five years ending with Northrup Grumman.  He enjoyed fishing, loved hunting, but his real passion was golf. He was an avid golfer. He believed in giving back to his community. He was a member of the Atlantic Volunteer Fire Department, Community Cemetery Committee and cooked many delicious meals for the Community Senior Lunch. He was also a life member of the Atlantic Methodist Church. He served on the Carteret County Board of Education, Atlantic School Advisory Board and the Sea Level General Hospital Board of Advisors.

He is survived by his fiancé' Ann O'Conner of Morehead City: daughters, Claudia Dare Morris of the home and Paula Morris Wade and grandson Brantley Glen Wade of Williston. He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Louise Morris; father, Brantley Allen Morris and mother, Pauline White Morris and brother Joseph Craig Morris. He truly loved his family and friends and will be dearly missed. The visitation and funeral will both be held Saturday, February 25th at the United Methodist Church of Atlantic. The visitation will begin at 11 am. The funeral will begin at noon followed by the interment at the Atlantic Community Cemetery with the Reverend George Gouge presiding. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Atlantic Senior Meals Program, PO Box 145, Atlantic, NC 28511.  Online condolences may be made at mundenfuneralhome.com  Arrangements are by Munden Funeral Home & Crematory, Morehead City, NC.
