Celebrating the life of Perry Lee Lewis, 60, of Harlowe/Mill Creek, who journeyed home December 13, 2018, at his home.
His “Celebration of Life” Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church, officiated by Pastor Rochele Bailey of Harlowe UMC and Pastor Bill Hooper of Graham Memorial. A Committal Service will follow at the church cemetery.
He was born, December 11, 1958, to the late Billie G. Lewis and Viola B. Lewis of Mill Creek.
Perry had 34 years of faithful, dedicated service at NADEP Cherry Point, where his primary work was a Pneumatics Supervisor in the 94400 Shops. He was respected, admired, and appreciated by his employees and peers for his caring attitude, integrity, standing firm in doing the right thing, and resolving the problem to always ensure “Service to the Fleet.”
He loved his family, and his daughter Jessica was the true apple of his eye. He enjoyed helping his many friends in rebuilding engines, vehicle restoration, boats, guns, and any other areas that he could help. After his retirement from Cherry Point, his passion was to build his childhood dream “Flats” boat, which he almost completed. Perry was a great mentor and friend to many, and enjoyed his time at Kerr Lake, racing the orange Jet Boat and helping his dear friend Charles Robinson at the Marina.
He leaves behind his wife of 40 years, Tanya T. Lewis, of the home; daughter, Jessica Lewis and significant other, Paul Schwab, of Mill Creek; sister, Darlene Coker of Florida; brothers-in-law, Albert Taylor Jr. and Thomas Taylor, both of Harlowe; nieces, Shannon Leonard and significant other, David Revelle, of Alexandria, VA, Patricia Randol and husband, DJ, of Enterprise, AL; nephew, Shawn Leonard and wife, Paula, of Harlowe; one great-niece; three great nephews; and one small four pawed friend, Chiquita or “Pup”, who visited daily if possible.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gregory E. Lewis and nephew Jeremy Lewis.
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Harlowe United Methodist Church at 5119 Hwy 101, Newport, N.C. 28570 or Graham Memorial Pentecostal Holiness Church at 3448 Mill Creek Rd., Newport, NC 28570.
