Perlita Bauzon

Perlita Bauzon, 76, of Havelock, passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Carolina East Medical Center.

Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Freedom Baptist Church in Havelock, officiated by Rev. Jim Kohr. Interment will follow at Forest Oaks Memorial Gardens.

Perlita was born and raised in Bal-logo, Bacnotan, La Union, Philippines.  She received her bachelor’s degree in Home Technology in 1961 from the University of Philippines - Los Banos. Perlita continued her studies and received master’s degrees in Education from East Carolina University in 1982 and 1985. She was an educator at North Provincial High School, Bacnotan, Philippines for 7 years and with the Craven County School System for over 40 years, teaching Home Economics at Havelock Junior High School and Havelock High School.  Perlita was a supportive Navy wife during her husband’s military career until his retirement.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Virgilio C. Bauzon (retired PO1), of the home; daughter, Dessie M. Laxton and husband, David, of Durham;  sons, MAJ Bert D. Bauzon and wife, Sahar, of New Bern, and Darwin D. Bauzon of Havelock; sisters, Lorry E. De Guzman of Baguio City, Philippines; and Alejandrina E. Ofiaza of Manila, Philippines; and grandchildren, Madelaine Bauzon, Jonathan Bauzon, Michael Bauzon, Juliette Bauzon, Gregory Laxton and Alicia Laxton.

She was preceded in death by her father, Alfredo M. Espe; mother, Juana O. Lopez; sister, Minda L. Ordono; and brother-in-law, Virginio C. Bauzon.

Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at Freedom Baptist Church in Havelock.
