Peggy B. (Marshall) Ronning

January 3, 1938 — October 15, 2011

Peggy Bratcher Ronning, born January 3,1938 in Morehead City, NC, she passed away at the age of 73 at Carteret General Hospital on October 15, 2011.

The family and church will conduct a memorial service 11:00 am Wednesday at United Pentecostal Church with Rev. Charles Smith officiating.

She worked as a waitress down on the waterfront at Capt. Bills Restaurant during her teenage years. During her years as a waitress she had served many famous people that came into the restaurant. She also was Miss runner up as Miss Morehead City. She became a homemaker back in 1964 when she married her husband Richard S. Ronning from Minnesota who was a Marine stationed at Cherry Point Marine Corp Air Station. Mr & Mrs. Ronning were married for 45 years.

She is survived by her six children, Sharon K. Salter of Newport, Anthony W. Hart of Wooster, Ohio, Susan E. Hart of Morehead City, Jeffery S. Ronning and wife Meri of Marshallberg, Gina D. Ronning Salter and husband Brian K. Salter of Newport, Gregory J. Ronning and wife Cathy of Newport; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; two sisters, Betty May Day and Ruth M. Varveau both of Newport; brother-in-law, David Davis of Newport; and many more beloved related relatives and friends.

You will be missed but never forgotten!

She was preceded in death by her parents, Matthew P. Marshall and Betty E. Marshall, her husband, Staff Sgt. Richard S. Ronning, daughter, Kimberly L. Ronning, two brothers, Buddy Marshall and Henry Marshall, two sisters, Martha Worley and Anna Davis, son-in-law, Johnny P. Salter, the late husband of Sharon K. Salter, also a grandson. Nicholas Hart, son of Anthony W. Hart.

The family will receive friends 10:00 - 11:00 am prior to the service at the church.
