Paul Wemple Cordova, 93, of Morehead City, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2018, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House.
His funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, officiated by Rev. Tim Havlicek. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Paul was born on August 25, 1927 to Delifo and Florence Cordova from Morehead City. Paul was born in Asheville, NC and moved to Morehead City at age 7. He gradated from Morehead City High School and continued his education, graduating from Tusculum College (University) in Greenville, TN, with a major in Business. There he met Edna Griess, his bride for 66 years. Paul was General Manager at Beaufort Fisheries until his retirement. He served on several Boards in the county including the Morehead City / Beaufort Airport Authority and Town Commissioner for Morehead City for 36 years. Paul served in the United States Army and Army Reserves. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and served as secretary for many years at Morehead Beaufort Elks Lodge.
He is survived by his wife, Edna Cordova, of the home; daughters, Phyllis Wade of Wilson, Jackie Harris and husband, Ed, of Rocky Mount and Nancy Fletcher and husband, Herman, of Morganton; sons, Philip Cordova and wife, Becky, of Morehead City and Donald Cordova and wife, Jodi, of Morehead City; grandchildren, Paul Wade and wife, Leigh, of Red Oak, Mark Wade and wife, Leslie, of Newport, Meredith VanDuyn and husband, Jason, of Raleigh, Wilson Harris and wife, Heather, of Raleigh, Brooke Cordova of Beaufort, Amy Cordova of Morehead City, Hillary Bennett of New Bern and Logan Cordova of Morehead City; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and Bill Kellar of Clifton Park, NY.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Delifo and Florence Cordova and brothers, Tommy Cordova and Carlos Cordova.
Family will receive friends from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church.
