Patrick "Pat" J. McMahon

August 12, 1946 — December 25, 2021

Newport

Patrick “Pat” J. McMahon, 75, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 25, 2021, at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, North Carolina. A longtime resident of Warrenton, VA, Pat moved to the Crystal Coast with his daughter and her family in June 2021. The Crystal Coast has been a yearly family favorite since 1987. Recently for his 75th birthday, Pat was able to enjoy flounder and key lime pie at his favorite restaurant, once known to everyone as Captain Bills. He then enjoyed watching the grandkids fish on Oceanana Pier, the same pier he once walked and held the hands of his two daughters while enjoying the most beautiful sunset you will ever see.

Pat was born on August 12, 1946, in Greeley, Colorado to the late Donald and Jeanne McMahon. After high school he honorably served actively in the United States Army for 23 years. Before retiring in 1988 at the rank of CW02 at Vint Hill Farms Station Army base, he served in Ethiopia, Vietnam, Germany and across CONUS specializing in intelligence security, electronics, and computers. Pat loved the Army and continued supporting his Soldiers until retiring from civil service in 2019 at Ft. Belvoir Army base. Not only did Pat receive numerous service awards during his Army career, but he was also so proud to have achieved his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Maryland.

Pat is survived by a wife, Eileen McMahon of Warrenton, VA; two daughters, Darcy McMahon-Wine and husband Lance of Newport, NC and Maegan McMahon of Culpeper, VA; three sisters, Kathleen, Mary and Christine, all of Colorado. Pat was not only a loving husband, proud father and great brother. He was the best Papa ever to his seven grandchildren, Connor, Madelyn, Jocelyn, Brayden, Ryan, Kenadi and Colton. He never missed a sports game, a birthday celebration, or a ride on the tractor.

A very special thank you to the staff of the Crystal Coast Hospice House for the most loving care and compassion shown to Pat and his daughter, Darcy during his final days.

A Military memorial service officiated by Dr. Decker Tapscott will be held on January 14, 2022, at 2 p.m., at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, VA. All who knew and loved Pat are welcome to come say final respects to a man who not only gave his all to his family, but to his Country.

Donations in memory can be made to the Crystal Coast Hospice House, Newport, NC or to the Alzheimer’s Association.
