Patricia “Pat” Mayo Smith, 75, of Emerald Isle, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018 at Carolina East Medical Center.
There will be a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
Pat grew up in Goldsboro and lived most of her life in Kinston and Emerald Isle.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. Those who knew her knew that her love was fierce.
She was an extraordinary homemaker and family patriarch. She loved touring old historical homes, watching HGTV, shopping, collecting antiques and traveling abroad. She was meticulous in everything she did. Everything had to be just “right”.
She passed her love of travel to her children and grandchildren. She loved to celebrate a good party and decorating for all holidays, especially Christmas.
She treasured her time at their river house, her ultimate antique “the farm house” and her beach home. She loved to spend time with her family and circle of friends. She was full of life and wanted to share it with everyone.
She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Len Smith, of the home; daughter, Sherrie Rhodes and husband, Ben, of Kinston; son, Jason Todd Smith and wife, Lisa, of Bayboro; grandchildren, Alexandria, Ashley, Zachary, Meredith, Madison and Hunter.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Donnie Evans Mayo, father, Carl Mayo; sister, Connie M. Parnell; and brother, Ronnie Mayo.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials can be sent to New Bern Historical Society, 511 Broad St., New Bern, NC 28560.
