Patricia "Pat" Chur O'Grady

Patricia “Pat” Chur O’Grady, 93, a long-time resident of Swansboro and Emerald Isle, NC, and previously of Montclair, NJ, where she raised her children, passed away at Pruitt Health, Sea Level, NC, on April 18, 2019.

A private family service will be held.

Pat was a loving mother and grandmother; she cherished all animals and nature and loved the ocean. She was a world-renowned breeder of award-winning Maine Coon Cats for several decades, as a member of CFA and TICA.  She was born in Brooklyn, NY, attended Summit High School, Summit, NJ and Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, NY, and was a successful fashion model in New York City.

Pat was married to the late James F. O’Grady in 1947.  She is survived by her children, Camille O’Grady of San Francisco, CA, Patrick Brian W. O’Grady and Christina of Claremont, CA, Kathleen O. Ashenfelter and James of Glen Ridge, NJ, Michelle O’Grady of Edgartown, MA, and Leigh O. Molitor and Jerome of Chester, NJ; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her parents, Walter P. and Olga (Muldener) Chur; husband, James F. O’Grady; sister, Carol C. Ritchie; sons, Michael T., Jeffrey P., and James F. O’Grady, Jr.
