Patricia Ann Smith Yarock, 82, of Morehead City, NC passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at her home. She began her life’s journey in Brooklyn, NY and worked long hours as a young woman at Tom Smith Florist, her family’s business. She then moved to Solomon Brothers on Wall Street where she managed the prospectus department for many years. She did all of this while raising three children on her own in downtown Brooklyn, and somehow finding time to take them on weekly adventures all over the state of New York.
She was an avid scuba diver, tennis player and world traveler. Later in life she enjoyed a very busy schedule of card games, movie going, water aerobics, church services and celebratory gatherings with her sister and many friends in Morehead City. She gave back to her community by volunteering at a number of organizations, most recently at the Lions Club and Aging Council of Morehead City and the N.C. Maritime Museum in Beaufort.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Ann Smith, her sister Joan Smith, brother Paul Smith, her son John Tarbell and her husband, Michael Yarock. She is survived by her sisters Barbara Martykan and Rita Curich (Vitus); her loving children Michael Tarbell (Carey), Diane Thies (Arthur), Sandra DeFelice (Richie); her adoring grandchildren Dominick and Sally DeFelice and John and Chloe Tarbell; her God daughter Christine Gentile, and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other family members and many dear friends and admirers of her delightful spirit, boisterous laugh and gusto for life.
