Patricia L. Taylor

Patricia L. Taylor, 73, of Harkers Island, passed away Saturday, January 14, 2017 at Carteret Health Care.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, January 16, 2017 at Harkers Island United Methodist Church with Rev. Brad Williams officiating.  Interment will follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery.

In 1961, Patricia graduated from Smyrna High School.  She then attended Nursing School in Kinston, graduating in 1964.  She began her career as a charge nurse at Sea Level hospital and then returned to the Nursing School in Kinston to teach.  Patricia later founded the Health Occupation courses at ECHS, helping many students further their careers in the medical field.  She taught at ECHS for eleven years until retiring.  Patricia loved her family, her church family, her friends and always looked out for everyone.  She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She absolutely adored her granddaughter, Kenadie.

Patricia is survived by her husband of 50 years, Billy J. Taylor, of the home; son, Benjamin J. Taylor and fiancée Stacey Sparks of Harkers Island; brother, Curtis Lewis and wife Eileen of Harkers Island; sister, Sherard Lewis and Steve Murdoch of Broad Creek; granddaughter, Kenadie Grayce Taylor of Atlantic Beach; brothers in law, Carlton Taylor and wife Glenna and Andy Taylor and wife Theresa; sister in law, Priscilla T. Styron; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Sara (Carden) Lewis; and brother in law, Weston E. Taylor and wife Wilma.

The family will welcome friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm Sunday, January 15, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.
