Osborne was born in Davis to parents Blanchard and Florence Paul Davis July 7, 1935.  He was a graduate of Smyrna High School Class of 1953 where he loved playing basketball and baseball.  He graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1959.

While growing up, he went fishing and shrimping with his father.  His career began with a summer job at Newport News Shipbuilding in 1957 and he remained there until 1967.  In February 1967 he began working at the Naval Air Depot at Cherry Point.  During his career, he worked in an exchange program with Patuxent River Air Station in Lexington Park, Maryland.  He travelled extensively for his job.  Osborne, or O.C. as he was known at Cherry Point, retired November 1997 as the Division Director for Plant Engineering.

Oz had many hobbies and interests during his life.  His love for gospel music led him to sing in the Deacon Board Quartet and Just Friends Quartet as baritone.  He enjoyed attending the National Quartet Convention for many years with his loving wife, Nancy.  Oz found great pleasure in writing and reciting poetry.  During hunting season, you could find Oz and his son Mark in the woods listening to their deer hounds run.  He was an avid fan of football and many other sports and was a huge NC State fan.  He was a great cook.  Some of his favorite times were having his family gathered around at Christmas enjoying his delicious cooking.  After retirement, he spent much of his time in his workshop building furniture to be cherished by his family for years to come.  Oz enjoyed all the visits from his many friends through the last few months.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 32 years, Nancy Gaskill Davis, of the home; children from his first marriage, Pamela Morris of Smyrna, Michael Davis and wife Polly of Wendell, Kristen Allen and husband Jonathan of Wilmington, Elizabeth Booth and husband Jack of Robbinsville;  children with his wife Nancy, Mark Davis and wife Heather of Straits and Marsha Murphy and partner Semir Badic of Beaufort; grandchildren, Cody Morris and wife Megan, Joanna Alexander and husband Sean, Candace Morris, Allison Davis, Julia Allen, Olivia Allen, Madelynn Hill, Georgia Allen, Ivey Block, Randy Booth, Maeleigh Ada Davis, and week old grandson, Anson Clark Davis; great-grandchildren, Carly Morris, Ryan Morris and Iris Alexander; siblings, Donald Davis and wife Dodie, Carolyn Davis, Ken Davis and wife Dorothy; and nieces, Kay Moore, June Davis and Elizabeth Laster.
