Lee was born on July 6, 1942, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to the late Orville Willard Jones and Alta Louise Bittle Jones. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps, where he displayed the values of duty and honor.

In 1965, Lee met his forever love, Carolyn "Geri" Willis Jones. They were married in 1966 at Ann Street United Methodist Church, where Lee remained a devoted member for nearly 50 years. His commitment to the Church was evident in his faithful service, making sure the Church was prepared for services and always looking its best. He always had a big smile and warm greetings for the children each Sunday, including the precious little ones in the Church daycare.

As a father, Lee was unwavering in his support for his children, rarely missing a sport event or band concert. He fervently cheered for them on every occasion, instilling a sense of pride and love in their lives.

Professionally, Lee was well-respected in Carteret County, known for his successful business, Coastal Business Machine. His commitment to community service was evident through his extensive involvement and leadership in many organizations. As a dedicated member of Franklin Masonic Lodge #109 A.F. & A.M., he served in various roles, including past Master, exemplifying his adherence to Masonic principles. Lee was also a devoted member of the Beaufort Shrine Club and previously served as president of the Beaufort Rotary. His generosity extended to assisting Roland's BBQ with their catering events, assisting with the VFW supper meals, as well as lending a hand to the Salvation Army. Lee’s life reflected true dedication to making a positive impact on his community.

Lee also enjoyed the time he spent coaching Little League Baseball, fostering a love for the sport in the youth of the community. Lee's legacy of service, leadership, and commitment to making a difference will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his daughter, Georgia Jones and her companion Randy Jackson of Beaufort; son, Jason Willis Jones and wife Melissa of Stem, NC; sister, Ellen Martin and husband Lee of Atlanta, GA; brother, Richard Jones and wife Robi of Tulsa, OK; grandchildren, Calvin Jackson, Aislinn Jones, and Bailey Jones; and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
