Norma "Eleze" Ezzelle Merrell, 91, of Beaufort, formerly of Rocky Mount, NC died Monday, November 14, at home.
She was an active member of Russell's Creek Free Will Baptist Church where she served as clerk for many years. She was known for her vegetables, strawberries, and her cakes that she sold at the Curb Market for many years. To her family she was the example of someone who always put others first.
She was born in Rocky Mount, NC to Samuel Elmore Ezzelle and Viva Jones Ezzelle.
She is survived by a daughter Norma Merrell Gardner and husband Jack: a son Douglas Wayne Merrell and wife Esther: four grandchildren Kelly Gardner Stainback, John Todd Gardner, and Renee Douglas Wayne Merrell,Jr, and Jeffery Hugh Merrell: four great grandchildren Arien Eleze Stainback, Samuel Morris Stainback, Austin Flynn Gardner, and Elizabeth Conley.
She was preceded in death by her husband Douglas Earl Merrell, a daughter Nancy Lou Merrell, her parents, and two sisters Sudie Ezzelle Cumbia and Ruth Ezzelle Purcell.
The family will recieve friends at 10:00am in Russell's Creek FWB Church followed by a Church service at 11:00 am on Thursday November 17, interment to follow at Carteret Memorial Gardens.
