Norma Cotterman

Norma Jean Beers Cotterman, 78, of Beaufort, N.C., born March 4, 1931, to the late Raymond A. Beers and Iva Parke Beers Bell, died Thursday, July 30, 2009, at her residence.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Ann Street United Methodist Church with the Rev. Eric Lindblade and Rev. Ann Sims officiating.

She graduated from Sidney High School in 1949. She was past president of Football Mothers in Sidney, OH. After moving to Belhaven, NC she became secretary of United Methodist Women, was in the church choir, and she was on the Board of Trustees at the Trinity United Methodist Church for four years. She also wrote for the Coastal Observer as a free lance writer in Belhaven, NC. In April of 1993, she moved to Beaufort, NC where they retired and resided until her death.

She is survived by her husband Ray E. Cotterman whom she married October 27, 1951 in Muncie, IN; three sons, Bruce Lee Cotterman and wife Joanne of Sattelite Beach, FL, Michael Ray Cotterman and wife Brenda of Zebulon, NC, and Robbie J. Cotterman and wife Peggy of Sumpter, SC; one sister, Carol Ann Cavinder of Sidney, OH; two brothers, Donald R. "Butch" Beers of Hamilton, OH, and Gerald Lee Beers of Sidney, OH; and seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Sue Cole, and brother, Robert A. Beers.

The family will receive friends 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. Saturday prior to the service.
