Nicholas “Nick’ Grdinic, 91, of Bogue, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Carteret Health Care.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, April 25th, at Broad Creek Church of God, 394 Broad Creek Loop Rd., Newport, North Carolina. The family will receive friends an hour prior to the funeral service. Interment, with military honors, will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.

Nicholas was born in Chicago, Illinois on December 23, 1930, to the late Alma and Jovo Grdinic. He served his country faithfully and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He retired from the Marine Corps in 1971 and he retired from NAFI at Cherry Point in 1991. He was also a past Master of the Seaside Masonic Lodge 429. Nick loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and was a faithful member of Broad Creek Church of God.

Nick lived a long, wonderful life with so many great memories. You could find him enjoying a cappuccino and BLT from Church Street Deli for lunch and then having his favorite, oysters Rockefeller from Bistro by the Sea. Nick loved his family, friends and community.

Nick is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Karen Grdinic. He is also survived by his daughters, JoAnn Parker and husband Wyatt, Tina Duncan and husband Freddy; niece, Patricia Grdinic; grandchildren, Kristen Reaves and husband Neal, Wyatt Parker and fiancé Maddison Woody, Rebecca Lester and husband Jason, MaryAnn Teasley and husband Chris, Karen Jordan and Freddy Wayne Duncan; along with 13 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.

Nick was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers, 3 sisters, and his 2 daughters, Mary Ann Lentini and Colleen Carter.

Mr. Grdinic’s family extends their gratitude to all family and friends who lifted them in prayer during this time. May the Lord bless you!

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Reflect Church. This is his granddaughters church in Wilmington, NC. His last trip was to Wilmington to be there for their opening service. Donations can be mailed to, 621 Pine Branches Circle SE, Belville, NC 28451.
