Nelson "Skip" T. Champine

Nelson “Skip” T. Champine, 79, of Newport, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2018, at Carteret Health Care.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2018, at Munden Funeral Home, with Rev. Robbie Provost officiating.

He served in the U.S. Air Force for 5 years, and retired in 2006 from Civil Service with NADEP, Cherry Point after 30 years of service. He loved Caribbean cruises, fishing and gardening in the summer. He loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Champine of the home; daughter, Katharine Lynne Champine of Newport; brother, Roger Champine of Apex, NC; sisters, Kathleen DeVore and husband, Jerry, of Jensen Beach, FL, Nancy Donaldson and husband, Dana, of New Port Richey, FL and Debbie Ehlers of New Port Richey, FL; and two granddaughters, Alexis Marie Lewis and Layla Michelle Lewis of Newport, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Bernadine Champine; brothers, Larry Champine, Alan Champine, and Gary Champine; and a sister, Mary Jo Evans.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Munden Funeral Home.
