Nellie Sammons Householder, 93, of Beaufort, passed away on Thursday, August 26, 2021, at Riverpoint Crest Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in James City.

Her memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 4, 2021, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Beaufort, officiated by Rev. Tambria Lee. The family will receive friends following the service.

Nellie was born on October 14, 1927, in Craven County, North Carolina, to the late John and Drina Sammons. Living in Beaufort most of her adult life, Nellie worked at the Carteret Quick Freeze as a packer and later at Roses.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church was her home church where she faithfully attended. Crocheting was by far her favorite pastime, she created beautiful items that she happily shared with others. Being a grandmother was her pride and joy, and nothing brought more pleasure to her life than being able to spend time with her grandsons.

She is survived by her daughter, Earlene Lawrence of Morehead City; grandsons, Nicholas Bryan Lawrence of Beaufort, and Jeremy Lee Lawrence (Cheryl) of Rockville, MD; grandson, Dawson Bryan Lawrence; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, William Robert Sammons.

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome donations may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 209 Ann St., Beaufort, NC 28516.
