Ned Gray Golden Sr., 80, of Straits, NC, died January 8, 2017 at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, NC surrounded by his loving family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, January 12, 2017 at Munden Funeral Home in Morehead City.  Interment to follow at Vergie Mae Cemetery.

Ned Golden, Sr. was the founder of Golden Building Corporation located in Beaufort, NC. While being a successful business man was important to him, family was always his priority. He loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren more than any successes he had in his earthly life. He enjoyed traveling with his family and camping - especially to the beautiful NC Mountains. He was a man who loved to work with his hands. He continued his love for building until the very end building beautiful outdoor furniture that he sold to many locals. He was not one to sit idle and kept busy with gardening, riding motorcycles, building, and crabbing. One of his most favorite past times was eating down east treats such as mullet fish and oysters with his dearest friends and family while sharing entertaining stories of times past.

Ned is survived by his lovely wife, Louise Golden of Straits, NC;  his son, Ned Golden, Jr and his wife, Cynthia Gail Golden of Straits, NC; his daughter, Bonnie Gillikin of Straits, NC; his grandchildren Heidi Rose of New Bern, NC , Hope Cook of Beaufort, NC, and Aaron Golden and wife Lenee’ Golden of New Bern, NC; his great grandchildren, Katlin Rose, Alex Cook, Eliza, Jude and Elyse Golden; His siblings, Jerry Golden and wife Judy Golden of Virginia, Dennis Golden of Virginia, C.R. Golden and wife Jackie Golden of Virginia, Brenda McKenzie and husband Allen McKenzie of Virginia, Cora Salter of Bettie, NC; and sister in-law, Wilma Golden of Kentucky; along many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Claude and Juanita Golden; and his brothers, Tinker and Buddy Golden.

The family will welcome friends from 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Munden Funeral Home.
