Naomi Max Casavant, 44, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at her home.
A Gathering of Family and Friends to honor Naomi’s life will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m., Saturday, February 1, at Munden Funeral Home in Havelock.
A memorial gathering will be held in the Seattle area on Sunday, July 27, 2025 to celebrate the life and legacy of our beloved Naomi on what would have been her birthday.
Naomi grew up in Mountlake Terrace, Washington, one of eight close-knit, devoted siblings. Throughout grade school and high school, her favorite things were sports, dance, and, especially, hanging out with friends. While attending Washington State University, her love of travel took her to South Korea and Japan as part of Camp Adventures. During her study abroad she explored Australia and seized the opportunity to skydive and bungee jump in New Zealand! Naomi enjoyed meeting new people and exploring different cultures; she was undaunted in her quest for knowledge and experiences.
Naomi moved to Colorado in 2009. She met Jason and they built a life together with his children, Paige and Aidan. As a couple they enjoyed exploring all that Colorado and the Mountain West had to offer.
Their daughters, Annabelle and Josephine, arrived on the scene in quick succession, and Naomi devoted herself to being a full-time mom. As the girls got older, they and Naomi loved baking goodies, road trips, shopping and discovering thrift stores, sharing movies and TV shows, spending time with Paige and Aidan and, especially, their nighttime ritual of sharing the day: How was your day? What was your favorite part? The girls played volleyball and basketball with their mom sometimes in the role of coach or team parent, but always their biggest fan and loudest cheerleader.
She is survived by her husband, Jason Casavant; daughters, Annabelle and Josephine Casavant; step children, Paige and Aidan Murray; parents, Margaret and David Max: siblings, Judith (Jed) Max Palmer, Jeremy Max, Kyle (Alissa) Max, Vera Max (Mike Rowell), Laurina (Alex) Presby, Dustin Max (Anjel Hadeen), and Vincent Max; thirteen nieces and nephews; and numerous cousins, aunts and uncles, and countless friends.
Naomi was preceded in death by her grandparents, Scotty and Selma Beckwith, John and Phebe Max.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Facebook Go Fund Me account that has been set up to help with expenses and in support of Jason and the girls. Additionally, an education fund is being set up for Annabelle and Josephine. Until the fund is active, donations can be sent to Principal Michele Saller, c/o Carbon Valley Academy, 4040 Coriolis Way, Longmont, CO 80504, and noted for the Casavant girls.
