Nancy Evans Minatel

Nancy Evans Minatel, 72, of Newport, passed away on Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Carteret Health Care.

 A funeral service to honor Nancy’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, August 26th at Newport Baptist, officiated by Pastor Gary Carroll. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. The graveside service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, August 27th at Burchwood Cemetery in Roxboro, N.C. handled by Brooks and White Funeral Home.

 Nancy was born on October 3, 1951, in Roxboro, NC, to the late Jack and Frances Evans. She grew up in her small hometown of Roxboro and made many memories during her childhood. After meeting her husband, she moved to the coast. Nancy was a devoted Christian and longtime member of Holly Springs and Newport Baptist Church-her faith was a cornerstone of her life.

One of her favorite hobbies was scrapbooking, she spent countless hours preserving memories and keepsakes for her beloved family. Her love for dogs was also a significant part of her life, she was known for her love and compassion toward all animals. Nancy found such happiness in teaching, dedicating over 30 years to educating children at Graham A. Barden Elementary School and Morehead Primary. May her memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved her.

 Those remaining to cherish her memory are her sons, Bryan Minatel (Ulinda) of Oklahoma City, OK, Russell Minatel (Sarah) of Johnson City, TN; stepson, Stephen Browne (Jennifer) of Grantsboro, NC; stepdaughter, Stephanie Horr (Joe) of Apex, NC; brother, Jack Evans (Jane) of Boone, NC; and grandson, Dominic Minatel.

 In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her sisters, Scotty and Jean; and brother, Frank.
