Roger was born on July 19, 1946, in Jamestown, Ohio, to the late, Ralph and Margaret Colaw. Roger always knew the value of hard work and at the age of 13, he began his first job at a local farm. It was with this same dedication and commitment that he entered the United States Marines and worked his way to earning the rank of Master Sergeant. His patriotism for our country was evident through his 23 years serving, including 3 tours in Vietnam. Following the military, Roger worked with the Havelock Parks and Recreation Department where he also retired from.
As an Ohio native, Roger was a devoted Cleveland Browns fan. In his free time, he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and hunting. Roger was a dedicated family man who loved his family, especially his late wife, Jamie Colaw.
He is survived by his daughter, Jeanette Lynn Howard and husband Daniel of Havelock; son, Robert “Boy” Colaw and wife Michelle of Havelock; sister, Barb Campbell and husband Larry of Ohio; brothers, Terry Smith and wife Becky, and Steve Smith and wife Pam, all of Ohio; grandchildren, Ashley Kyle and husband Roy, David Seiler, Shawn Howard, Kyle Williams, and Megan Williams; and great grandchildren, Kadence Kyle, Alexander Kyle, James Kyle, and Brenden Kyle.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be sent to a charity of one’s choice.
