Mitchell Arlin Dixon

Mitchell Arlin Dixon, 62, of Harkers Island, died January 7, 2017 at Crystal Coast Hospice in Newport.
Funeral services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday, at Graham Memorial Church in Mill Creek with the Rev. Bill Hooper officiating. Burial will follow at Virgie Mae Cemetery in Harker’s Island.
Mitchell attended Graham Memorial church and was a member of Crissie Wright Masonic Lodge #741. He worked at Duke University Marine Lab aboard the research vessel Cape Hatteras as an engineer for 25 years, and then Vane Brothers Bunkering as chief engineer.
He is survived by his wife Debbie Dixon of the home; daughter, Brittany Michelle Dixon of Greenville; sons, Mitchell Brandon Dixon and wife Mandy of Straits and Mickey Arlin Dixon of Otway; father, Wilford Dixon of Harkers Island; brother Jimmy Dixon and wife Shelia of Harkers Island; and two grandchildren, Chase Dixon and Chandler Dixon.
Mitchell was preceded in death by his mother, Mavis Guthrie Dixon; paternal grandparents, Louie and Iona Dixon, and his maternal grandparents, Bonnie and Velma Guthrie.
Family will receive friends from 6-8pm Monday at Graham Memorial Church.
