Milton Bryant Thomas

July 4, 1963 — February 24, 2025

Newport

Milton Bryant Thomas, 61, of Newport, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, February 24, 2025.

A memorial service to honor Milton’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 1st at Munden Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Joseph Park.

Milton was born on July 4, 1963, in Greenville, NC, to the late Horace and Mary Thomas. He had a long career in hospitality where his leadership and great personality were a blessing to his customers and employees. Known to be a jack of all trades, Milton could tackle any project with ease. He had a passion for helping his community and throughout his life he helped numerous families including his work with hurricane relief and with community sports and events.

A gifted organist, Milton had a profound love for music, often playing for weddings in his earlier years. He found comfort in the melodies of the Band of Oz and always enjoyed the vibrant sounds of beach music, and you could be sure that he’d have a radio nearby listening to his favorite tunes.

In addition to music, Milton had a fondness for fishing. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life, from savoring his favorite drink, Diet Mountain Dew, to spending quality time with his beloved dogs.

Family held a special place in Milton's heart, he cherished being a grandfather and found immense joy in creating lasting memories with his loved ones. A couple of years ago, Milton turned his life over to the Lord and found true peace and joy that enriched his life.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Carol Thomas; sons, Tristan Thomas (Maggie) and Cory Thomas (Brandi), all of Newport, NC, and Rose Bowden; sister, Brenda Riggs or Tarboro, NC; granddaughter, Makenzie Thomas; mother-in-law, Mary Hughes; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to the family at Munden Funeral Home, c/o The Family of Milton Thomas, 2112 Arendell St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
