Millie Ruth Lewis

Millie Ruth Lewis, 88, of Harkers Island passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at her home.

A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, December 20, 2015 at Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Robert Parnell Jr. and Anthony Nelson officiating.

Ruth was a member of Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church since 1954 and served as the Secretary and Treasurer for the Young Peoples Service. She was a choir member for 50       years, also Secretary for the Women’s Sunday School for 30 years. She loved working in the water alongside her husband. Ruth will be missed for her love, affection, and telephone calls.

She is survived by her son, James Lewis Jr. and wife Vanda of Harkers Island; three sisters, Dawn Styron, Mae Yeomans and Sandra Willis; four brothers, Lee Willis, Guyon Willis, Mike Willis, and James Willis; two grandchildren, Stephanie Rogers and husband Bill, and Jamison Lewis.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James Lewis of 66 years; parents; and four brothers, Duncan Willis, Henry Willis, Roger Willis, and Paul Willis.

Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be made to Harkers Island Pentecostal Holiness Church.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
