Mildred "Skip" (Smith) DeVita

Mildred "Skip" Smith DeVita, 86, of Newport, passed away Friday, January 17, 2014 at Crystal Bluffs in Morehead City.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 pm Monday at Munden Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. William Stroud and Rev. Rob Pate officiating. Interment will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Park.
Skip was a member of Wildwood Free Will Baptist Church. She had worked in the restaurant business for 30 years and owned and operated the former Skip's Driftwood Inn Restaurant in Havelock with her husband.
She is survived by a son Thomas Ramsey of Newport; a daughter Diane Sneary and husband Myron of Ohio; grandchildren Teresa Diane Jones of Morehead City, Suzy Styron and husband Charlie of Morehead City, Tracy Pate and husband Rob of New Bern, Tracy Roberts of Ohio, and Jimmy Roberts of Ohio; and five great grandchildren Chelsea Nelson, Lauren Pate, Matthew Pate, Morgan Styron, and Luke Styron.
She was preceded in death by her husband Matthew Devita, parents Crawford and Ivey Smith, three sisters, one brother. grandson Corey Penny, and daughter in-law Cecile Ramsey.
Visitation will be 4:00-6:00 Sunday at Munden Funeral Home.
