Milan Willis

July 23, 1921 — June 2, 2013

Milan Willis, 91, of Atlantic, crossed the bar on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Snug Harbor on Nelson Bay.

He was a Navy veteran and was stationed on the battleship Pennyslvania at Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. He captained the Eastward and R/V Cape Hatteras. His love was commercial fishing on Core Sound and the adjacent waters.

He is survived by a daughter Mary Anne Jackson and husband Robert: a granddaughter Jennifer Musser and husband Mickey: daughter in-law Sarah Willis: two grandsons John Willis, and Joel Willis and wife Rebecca along with many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elizabeth Anne Robinson Willis, son Milan Thomas Willis, parents Joseph and Clora Willis and 12 brothers and sisters.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Atlantic United Methodist Church 551 School Dr., Atlantic, NC, Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church, PO Box 147 Atlantic, NC or to a charity of one's choice.

Per his request, no service was held.

The family would like to thank the staff of Taylor's and Snug Harbor for their compassionate care during his final years.
