Michael "Mike" D. Cathey

Michael “Mike” D. Cathey, 66, of Newport and formerly of Charlotte, passed away Thursday, April 2­, 2020, at his home.

Mike was born on March 18, 1954 in Charlotte, North Carolina to the late Curtis and Louise Cathey. He honorably served in the United States Army and later had a successful career as a designer for Heating and Air Conditioning systems. Mike was a longtime member of Moore’s Chapel United Methodist Church in Charlotte.

He is survived by his son, Shaun Cathey and wife Heather and grandchildren, Kellie Cathey and Zoe Cathey, all of Newport.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy Cathey; parents, Curtis and Louise Cathey; and daughter, Kellie Cathey.
