Michael J. Scott, 63, of Newport, died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Carolina East Medical Center in New Bern.
Funeral Service will be held 2:00 pm Tuesday at Reece's Chapel with Rev. James Chadwick officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.
Mr. Scott served in the U.S. Navy.
He is survived by his son, Michael Anthony Scott of Newport, daughter, Penny White of Columbus , OH; step-daughter, Ginger Fredere of Morehead City; mother, Irene Jones Scott of Mill Creek; two sisters, Janet Dare Pittman of Beaufort and Patricia Holm of Newport; two brothers, Buddy Scott of Morehead City and Allen Scott of New Bern; also seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
Flowers are welcome, or memorials may be made to Reece's Chapel, PO Box 249, Newport, NC 28570.
