Michael “Mike” Wayne May

Michael “Mike” Wayne May, 50, of Havelock, North Carolina, passed away on Sunday, January 26, 2025, at Carteret Health Care.

There will be a private celebration of life at a later date.

Mike was born on September 4, 1974, in Greensboro, North Carolina, to Gerald and Teresa May. His family later moved to South Carolina where he was a proud graduate of Lexington High School. 

Mike was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and creativity, particularly in woodworking, where his skill was seen every piece he created. An outdoor enthusiast, Mike enjoyed spending time in nature whether camping, surfing, fishing, or hunting. 

Mike’s vibrant spirit and passion for life will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. 

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving mother, Teresa Lindler May of Havelock; brother, Howard Thomas May of Havelock, NC; nephew, Thomas May of Lexington, SC; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his best friend and sidekick, his dog, Chief. 

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Thomas May.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Mike to Hope Mission, 1410 Bridges St., Morehead City, NC 28557.
