Michael Jeffrey Horne, 54, of Morehead City, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord after suddenly passing away in his sleep on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
His funeral service, with military honors, will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, January 17th at One Harbor Church in Morehead City, officiated by Pastor Bryan Hart. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
For those unable to attend the Funeral Service in Morehead City, there will be a Memorial Service on Sunday, January 19th, from 4 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. at Forest Park Church, 300 Forest Park Road, Elizabeth City, NC, officiated by Pastor Davin Phillips.
Michael was born on October 12, 1970, in Hampton, Virginia, to the late Curtis and Vallie Horne. A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Michael dedicated his life to serving others. Most recently, he made a meaningful impact in his community as a mental health and substance abuse counselor. His commitment to helping those in need was a blessing to many.
Michael had a variety of hobbies that he enjoyed, including fishing, playing golf, and building models. He had a wonderful sense of humor and a playful spirit, often bringing smiles to those around him with his jokes and light-heartedness.
Above all, Michael was a caring, big-hearted man who touched the lives of many. His love for God and unwavering support for friends and family will be fondly remembered. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness and compassion that will continue to inspire others. Michael will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Those remaining to cherish his memory are his beloved daughters, Brittany Daye and husband Cornell Jr. and Taylor Horne, all of Williamsburg, VA; sisters, Misty Long and husband Ryan of Hertford, NC and Kelli Dycus and husband Gary of Jonesboro, LA; brothers, Curtis Horne and wife Donna of Elizabeth City, NC and Fletcher Lewis and wife Christi of Hertford, NC; grandchildren, Adaline Daye and Emmett Daye; step-mother, Shirley Horne; nieces and nephews, Jessi, Jani, Hannah, Skylar, Dustin, Mali-Ann, Grace, Hadley, Raven, and Oakley.
In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by his brother, Tony Horne and nephew, Christopher.
