Melvin Earl Hoard, 68, of Morehead City, passed away Saturday, February 9, 2019, at the SECU Jim and Betsy Bryan Hospice Home of UNC Healthcare.
His memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Tarboro, NC, officiated by Rev. Noah Howard.
Melvin honorably served in the United States Army and was a proud American who loved standing up for his country and fellow soldiers. He was a hard-working man who retired from Proctor and Gamble after over 20 years of faithful employment. Melvin was a member of the Shag Club where he loved to dance, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing and being a comedian. He was a loving father, grandfather, brother and uncle who will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his daughters, Stacey Stagich and husband Jason of Plano, TX and Ember Martin and husband Karl of Honolulu, HI; son, Damon Hoard of Metuchen, NJ; sister, Susan Hoard Stroud and husband Kenneth of Tarboro, NC; grandchildren, Randy, Ryan, Taylor, Landon, Emerson and Peyton; and nieces and nephews, Nancy Deeck, Tred Parry and Emily Garner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Emma Hoard.
Family will receive friends following the service on Monday, February 11, 2019, at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Disabled American Veterans at 1025 Harbour Pointe Dr., New Bern, NC 28560.
