Melvin Fulcher

Melvin Ray Fulcher, 79, of Marshallberg, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Carteret Health Care.

A graveside service to honor Melvin’s life will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 22nd at Stacy Community Cemetery, officiated by Rev. Fred Harden. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, December 21st at Munden Funeral Home.

Born on May 12, 1944, in Stacy, North Carolina, Melvin was the son of the late Monnie and Vienna Fulcher.

Melvin, a proud and hardworking individual, dedicated his life to serving his country. He embarked on a remarkable career in the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served as a Boatswain's Mate, 1st Class. His time in the Coast Guard allowed him to travel the world while ensuring the safety and security of maritime operations. Following the military, he worked 18 dedicated years with the Atlantic School System where he was loved by all.

Melvin was well known for his kindness, always willing to lend a helping hand and offer support to those in need. Melvin's family was his pride and joy, and he cherished the time spent with his loved ones.

Those remaining to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Vickie Fulcher; sons, Tim Ray Fulcher (Becky) of Morehead City and William Paul Fulcher (Carol) of Virginia Beach, VA; stepdaughter, Danielle Saunders (Billy) of Port Orange, FL; grandchildren, Trisha, Laura, Tiffany, Kaitlyn, Britany, Michael; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Melvin was preceded in death by his first wife, Ailene Fulcher; and brothers, Monnie Fulcher Jr., Grady Fulcher, Winston Fulcher, Wesley Fulcher, and Roland Fulcher

As an expression of sympathy, flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association and the American Cancer Association.
