Morehead City

It is with very heavy hearts that we are announcing our beloved daughter, our angel, Megan Marie Zimnicki, 26, was called to heaven on April 12, 2025.

Megan was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on August 26, 1998. She was a beautiful, highly intelligent, witty, adventurous, and interesting woman. She was an extremely talented artistic young lady with great vision to see beauty in everything around her. Megan recently received a degree in graphic design from the University of Cape Town, a moment of great pride for her family.

Megan served in the Army National Guard for 3 years and has lived in Oregon, Wisconsin, and North Carolina in Monroe, Charlotte, Hendersonville, and most recently Morehead City.

An avid nature lover, Megan found joy in activities such as kayaking, fishing, and CrossFit. Her enthusiasm for the outdoors was evident in her love for hiking and running, which led her to establish her own running club. She had a passion for traveling, going to such places as Costa Rica, Disney and most recently a cruise to the Bahamas, with her friends from work.

Megan was loved by everyone who had the good fortune to become part of her circle, she will be sorely missed and thought of everyday.

Megan is survived by her mother’s Wendy Zimnicki and Sharon Roawden Zimnicki of Morehead City, NC; her best friend, her brother, Shane Zimnicki and his girlfriend Jordon Bried of Wilmington, NC; her grandfather, Stanley Zimnicki and his wife Amy Burke-Zimnicki of Broad Brook, CT; uncles, Robert Roawden of Morehead City, NC and Douglas Roawden of New York; aunts; Holly Weaver and her husband Chad of Bradenton, FL and Cindy Morgan of New Bern, NC; cousins, Ashley, Katherine, Mary Beth, Cory, and Sean; and her beloved cats, Echo and Lemon.
