Maurice "Pat" O' Neal Nelson
November 20, 1927 — April 11, 2013
A funeral will be held 2:00 pm Sunday at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Brookshire officiating. Interment will follow at Over The Brook Cemetery.
Pat was a member of Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church and was a retired commercial fisherman. He loved being out on the water, feeding and taking care of birds, and going to yard sales.
He is survived by six daughters Jennifer Godbey and husband Leonard of Mocksville, Ethel Greimann and husband Wayne of New Bern, Terry Grose of Atlantic, Janice Hamilton and husband Neil of Atlantic, Beverly Scadden of Atlantic, and Mary Catherine Nelson of Atlantic: one son James Mendelson and wife Mary of Otway: one brother Foster Nelson of Atlantic: one sister Delphia "Tinker" Mason of Atlantic: 15 grandchildren: and 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walton and Delphia Salter Nelson, wife Georgia Nelson, two granddaughters Nikki Ozimock, and Tera Tracey, two brothers William Thomas Nelson, and Ansley Nelson, and one sister Anna Joyce Gray.
Visitation will be 6:00-8:00 Saturday at Atlantic Missionary Baptist Church.
