Maureen Hightower Mensch

Maureen Hightower Mensch, 93, of Mill Creek, passed away Saturday, February 23­, 2019, at Crystal Bluff Rehabilitation and Nursing Facility.

Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2019, at Core Creek United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Judy Billings. Interment will follow at Core Creek United Methodist Cemetery.

Maureen was born and raised in Amarillo, Texas. She moved to Newport, NC in 1989, along with her husband and youngest daughter to be closer to her oldest daughter and her family. She quickly won the hearts of those around her with her quick, warm smile. Maureen was a member of Core Creek United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women. She loved her church family. Maureen has resided at Crystal Bluffs for the past 2 years where she developed loving relationships with her caregivers and other residents. Maureen enjoyed spending her free time painting, reading, playing Bingo and crocheting.

She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. Foreman and husband Edmund “Buddy” of Core Creek; brother, Lloyd Hightower of Salt Lake City, UT; grandchildren, Teri Mooney and husband Ed, Kristina Lewis and husband Daniel, and Tommy Foreman and wife Christine; great-grandchildren, Christopher Mooney, Austin Mooney, Logan Mooney, Ryan Foreman and Zackery Foreman;

She was preceded in death by her husband, David I. Mensch; daughter, Susan M. Mensch; parents, Oscar and Carrie Hightower; and brothers, Herschel Hightower, Cecil Hightower, James Hightower and Billy Ray Hightower.

Family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2019, at Munden Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be sent to the Methodist Women at Core Creek United Methodist Church at 124 Hardesty Loop Rd, Newport, NC 28570.
