Mary Lee Hurdle

Mary Lee Hurdle, 85, of Emerald Isle, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2022, peacefully at her home.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Emerald Isle Baptist Church at a later date.

Mary Lee was born on March 11, 1937, in Bucklesberry, North Carolina, to the late Kinsey and Clara Bell Elmore. She grew up in Bucklesberry and graduated from LaGrange High School in 1955. Mary Lee chose a career in the medical field as a licensed practical nurse. She was truly meant to help others. After her retirement, she moved to the beautiful town of Emerald Isle.

Mary Lee loved hanging out at the beach with her toes in the sand and enjoyed dancing too. She was a member of the Emerald Isle Baptist Church and sang in their choir. Mary Lee was the official Queen Bee of the Red Hat Society, which she thoroughly enjoyed. May her memory be a treasure to all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Kelly Hurdle of Emerald Isle, grandchild, Brittany Manley (Ryan); great-grandchildren, McKenzie, Rylee, Emmy Lou, and Lily.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Eugene Hurdle, brothers, Bailey Elmore and Jack Elmore.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emerald Isle Baptist Church, 304 Emerald Plantation Road, Emerald Isle, N.C. 28594.
