Mary Gertrude (Driscoll) Stahnke
February 24, 1933 — February 18, 2016
Mary was born and raised in Wisconsin. She relocated to Eastern North Carolina with her family in 1970. Mary retired from Civil Service in 1996 after almost 30 years. Her professional responsibilities included data processing for NADEP aboard MCAS Cherry Point.
In her spare time, she would knit hats for cancer patients and volunteered with the American Red Cross. When not giving to others, she enjoyed reading, attending church and International travel.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost sixty years, Richard Stahnke; her parents, Earl and Leona Driscoll, her sister, Dorothy Schroeder, and her grand-daughter Elizabeth McAllister.
She is survived by two daughters, Teri McAlllister and her husband Frank of Jacksonville, NC; Kathy Rogers and her husband Jeff of Burlington, KY; her son, Peter Stahnke and his fiance’ Holly Collins of Greenville, NC; three sisters, Susie, Janice, and Betty; and four grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Ashley and Tanner.
